Alba Hawaiian Mango Moisturizing Shampoo

This shampoo smells so good. I bought it at Walmart for about $8 and I've been using it for a week now.

According to the label the product is:
pH Balanced
Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and Sodium Laureth Sulfate free
100% Vegetarian Ingredients
No Animal Testing
Paraben Free
EU Cosmetics Directive Compliant

It leaves my hair feeling clean but not dry and like I said the smell is just incredible. It's like a splash of summer in the middle of winter. It's very sweet and floral/fruity. I use a really strong conditioner and have oily hair but and so I wash my hair every-other-day and this shampoo doesn't dry my hair out or anything. I really like that it's SLS and paraben free and the fact that it's EU compliant is a big plus in my eyes.

I'm really starting to get into an organic kick. I want to look into organic, safe and cruelty-free makeup, hair care, skin care and body care. I think it's very time consuming finding the right products, but I have friends who are super into that lifestyle and they literally glow and they seems so much happier. Once exams are over I'm going to have a major cleanse/detox and do a lot of research.

If anyone has suggestions please email me or leave a comment. I'd love to hear what kinds of natural or earth friendly products you are all using.

My Boots Are Making A Silly Noise

My Steven by Steve Madden boots are making a funny noise when I walk; specifically the left foot. I'm kinda bummed out because I really liked those boots but I feel so self-conscious walking because of the noise. I called Nordstroms and explained my situation and the customer service rep said I could take them back to the store and let them decide if I could exchange them. So although there's some hope I'm a little skeptical because who takes a pair of shoes back from August in December. Hopefully everything'll work out ok when I take them back to Nordstroms. If not I'll definitely be emailing Steve Madden because this isn't the first time a pair of their shoes have gone squeaky on me.

31 Things I'm Grateful For

Just trying to catch up on my posts....

December 8th 2010

I'm grateful for my iPhone. This little phone keeps me connected and entertained no mater where I am. I have the original iPhone (yes THE original), I bought it myself when I was in college and it still works fine so I don't see the point in replacing it. It's basically a phone and laptop but it fits in the palm of your hand. How amazing is that? I was the first in my family to get one and I've convinced about half-a-dozen other family members to get one as well and they all love it!

Here's a lit of the apps I currently have on my iPhone:
  • Shazam
  • Remote
  • Tumblr
  • Huff Post
  • NY Times
  • Solitaire
  • 55K Quotes
  • P Tracker
  • Texas Poker
  • Unblock
  • Echofon
  • Ocarina
  • Toobz
  • Bubble Shooter

31 Things I'm Grateful For

December 7th 2010

I handed in an essay about 2 weeks ago for my Comparative World Politics class and I took wrote about a rather popular topic, but I wrote some non-traditional things. Without going into detail about what I said I'm just going to say that I'm grateful to live in a country that allows me to not only say anything I want, but who also protects my right to do so . Free speech is a right that many of us under-value but in some parts of the world people would die for the right and liberties we have here in America.

31 Things I'm Grateful For

I know that it's past midnight, but I'm still awake and so I decided to do a 31 things I'm Grateful For post for Tuesday.

December 6th 2010

Since it's been around 13'F (approximately -11'C) for the past couple days I have to say that I'm grateful for  my North Face winter coat/parka. I bought it last year before visiting my sister for christmas and even though it was almost $300 I tried to justify the price by saying I'd wear it for the next couple years. The coat is black, puffy and super warm. I wore my pea coat (which I adore) earlier in the day and as I was walking back to my room on Sunday I was actually shivering. But once I got to my room I put on my North Face jacket before going to meet some other friends and I was so comfortable just walking outside in the arctic weather. Amazing! So I'm definitely grateful for my North Face jacket that keeps me warm during the cold days.

Old Friends

So I'm taking it easy tonight because exams are starting in 5 days and I just feel like I deserve a nice break before I feel like I'm going to have a nervous breakdown for 5 days straight. Just went to the little "grocer" on campus and got Teddy Grahams and I sat down (well laid down) to watch 30 Going On 30 starring Jennifer Garner and it suddenly occurred to me that this movie is from 2004 and it just brought back all these flashbacks and memories.

I remember seeing the movie with one of my closes friends at the time, Rebecca. Bex and I were pretty much inseparable for a good five years before she discovered drugs, sex and alcohol. I remember being at her house all the time and spending Hanukkah with her family and her bat mitzvah which was so special. And thinking about her got me thinking about the other friends I don't speak to/haven't really given any though to since I was younger.

I think that if I had Facebook it would normal/possible to just send her a message or write on her wall, but since I don't I feel kinda awkward emailing her since it's been so long. Part of me thinks this is both hilarious and sad because we used to be so incredibly close so calling shouldn't be awkward. But part of me finds if very sad at the same time because for me, losing a friend from childhood feels like losing a part of your childhood.

For anyone who is reading this and feeling the same way about a friend, or friends, don't let my lack of strength deter you from reaching out to someone who you were very close to. Chances are, they miss you just as much and are too scared to reach out.

Wow this is probably my deepest post yet.

31 Things I'm Grateful For

December 6th 2010

I'm grateful for Skype. I feel that most people know what Skype is, but for those of you who don't it's this programs/application that allows you to have video chats with other Skype users. Since I'm away at college Skype comes in really handy to talk to my parents, sister and friends. It also has chat and file sharing and pay-per-use international calling. Personally, I think it's really helped me deal with being away from home because I actually get to see people rather than hear a voice over the phone. My Mom even uses it to talk to her mother who lives in Europe. It's a great way to stay connected to people on a more personal level.

31 Things I'm Grateful For

I was in Indiana all of yesterday and couldn't do a "31 Things I'm Grateful For" post, but I'm back now!
December 5th 2010

I'm grateful for hot chocolate. I know that in comparison to the other things I've said I'm grateful for it seems quite silly; but I LOVE hot chocolate. How could you not? On a cold winter day or night it's the perfect drink.

-Chocolate ✓
-Warm ✓
-Marshmallows, whipped cream and chocolate shavings  ✓

If you do not like hot chocolate you've clearly never had good hot chocolate!

These Boots Are Made For Walking

I love my Steven by Steve Madden Intyce boots in black. I got them at Nordstrom for $130 just before school started.

They're super comfortable and they have a slight wedge so they give a bit of height and look dressy when paired with the right outfit.

They work great with just about anything; I've worn these boots with leggings, jeans and bare legs. They're not winter boots per-say, but a good pair of socks and they make great fall boots. Definitely not made for snow as the sole is flat and quite slippery. Luckily for me, my           university has heated sidewalks which means I'll be sporting these boots all season long.

Currently Watching: Secret Diary Of A Call Girl

So I kinda stumbled upon this show yesterday while aimlessly looking for something to watch online and I'm very glad I did. The main character Hannah, and her alter-ego Belle, are hilarious. The show follows a high-class prostitute through her life and it showcases both her professional and personal life. I'm currently finishing up the second season (or series as they say in England) and my heart is kinda breaking for both Hannah and her best friend Ben. I'm not going to go into details, but they're both heartbroken and trying to make sense of their lives.

31 Things I'm Grateful For

December 3rd 2010

I'm grateful for the amazing new friends I have made during my time at university. I had coffee with one of my oldest new friends (yes, it sounds odd) today and we just talked about school, boys, and having faith. In general, I guess we just talked about life.

Our little afternoon coffee break really got me thinking.... In these 3 short months I have met hundreds of people and there's about half-a-dozen that I truly call friends today; people I randomly text saying "hey what r u up 2?" for no reason other than to just check-in and see how they're doing.

31 Things I'm Grateful For

December 2nd 2010

I'm grateful for the opportunity to go to such an amazing school. I'm not some dumb kid who doesn't understand what a privilege it is go to college; especially my college, where tuition for one year is more than what most middle class families make. Even though I've been here for just under one semester I really do love it here. I've met so many amazing people and have made some really good friends that I actually care about and trust.

31 Things I'm Grateful For

I'm going to post one thing I'm grateful for every day until 2011.

December 1st 2010

I'm grateful for my amazing family; my Mom, Dad and Sister. I feel like I have the most amazing family ever. We get along fantastically and truly care about each other. My family is honestly the greatest thing about my life and without them (any of them) I'm not sure where I'd be.

It's Snowing!!

I woke up at 6 this morning and look out my window and to my surprise there was snow! It's the first snow of the season and being a total dork I decided a text my parents and sister to tell them it was snowing. My Mom sent me a reply saying "omg" (where she learned that I have no idea) and my Dad called me right away which was nice because he rarely calls me and it's usually me calling him like 15 times a day.

Although I grew up in Canada I've been living in Texas for the past couple years and I've really missed snow. Hopefully it doesn't get stormy or too cold; I just like sitting on my bed (which is conveniently located along the window) and enjoy the lovely snowflakes falling.

I'm gonna have to go buy some cute winter accessories when I go home for Christmas. I have half-a-dozen scarves, but I've only got one pair of gloves and a very old and embarrassing pink hat from when I was in junior high. I definitely need a few cute hats and some nice fleece gloves.
